Andre Mallie is the Assistant Vice President of Auxiliary Services at the University of San Diego. Andre manages all aspects of Dining Services, the Torero Store (bookstore), Campus Card Services, USD Mail Center, USD Copy, Hospitality Services, which encompasses Catering, Conferences, Concessions, Residential Facilities and La Gran Terraza Restaurant, and a wide array of ancillary services (licensing, vending, laundry services, Zip Cars, on-campus banking, etc.).  He develops financial business plans for short and long-term visions for all operations and manages a staff of over 120 full-time and 500 part-time employees. Andre’s oversight of building, construction and design details, led to the successful opening of the brand new Student Pavilion Dining, Tu Mercado Market, La Gran Terraza/O’Toole’s, La Paloma, Torero Store, and Aromas.

Prior to joining USD, Mr. Mallie was the General Manager, Auxiliaries, at Northern Michigan University; and General Manager, Dining Services.  Before joining NMU, Mr. Mallie was the Senior Director of Business Enterprises at California Institute of Technology where he managed all aspects of dining services including Auxiliary Services at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and contract dining services for the Westridge School for Girls.

Mr. Mallie’s education includes a BTS (Brevet de Technicien Superieur) in Culinary and Hotel Management from the Academie de Bordeaux, Bordeaux, France, 1981. Since his arrival at USD in 2008, Mr. Mallie’s dining operations have received numerous national awards in Catering, Retail and Residence categories. Under his leadership, USD’s Dining Services has gone from being non-ranked to #17 in the Country as rated by Princeton Review (2016). Most recently, Aromas received the prestigious, National Association of College and University Food Services, Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards, Gold Medal and Grand Prize for best retail – single concept and the Niche ranked USD’s Dining Services #16 for overall best University Dining Services (2017). During his career, Mr. Mallie’s dining operations have received more than 30 national awards, including Loyal E. Horton Gold and Grand Prize awards in Catering, Retail and Residence categories.

Mr. Mallie is actively engaged in several business organizations, as NACUFS, NACAS, IFMA, NACS, ICBA, NACUBO, NACCU and ACUHO

Mr. Mallie is strongly committed in supporting philanthropic organizations. He organized yearly fundraiser BBQ event for Wounded Warrior by getting food donations from USD supplier and cooking them with his family and friends. Andre volunteers every year to coordinate raising donations and providing logistic support to homeless organizations.

During his time off, Mr. Mallie enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children, traveling abroad, trying new restaurants and enjoying fine wine.
