Phil Kafarakis is currently serving as an advisor to the Board & the interim President at the Specialty Food Association (SFA). Mr. Kafarakis was the President at SFA the last four years, representing more than 4,000 food artisans, importers, buyers, distributors, and other entrepreneurs in the U.S. and abroad within the $160 billion specialty food industry. The SFA was established in 1952 and is best known for producing the Winter and Summer Fancy Food Shows and the sofi™ Awards honoring excellence in specialty foods product innovation.
Prior to the SFA, Phil was the Chief Innovation & Member Advancement Officer at the National Restaurant Association. With more than 35 years of executive leadership experience at McCormick & Co., Cargill, Jones Dairy Farm, and Kraft, Phil is a nationally recognized food industry insider and is often quoted by media sources. His insights and editorials have appeared in Financial Times, Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, The Hill, Progressive Grocer, and Forbes, where he is an editorial contributor. Kafarakis is also a frequent speaker at business events across the United States, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Phil earned a Global Executive MBA from Georgetown University and lives in New York city.
